Unidad Cero

Unidad Cero is a project that explores the application possibilities of textile waste in different areas of use, transforming textile waste into new materials with the possibility of application and sale in the current market. Currently, Chile is considered the country that consumes the most textiles in Latin America. Its overconsumption has contributed to the generation of high rates of waste that ends up in landfills being incinerated. This is a material that is discarded in large quantities, which presents various complexities due to its composition, processing and collection. In our country it is estimated that each inhabitant discards 28 kilos of textiles per year. The project proposes to find alternative uses and applications for textile waste in order to mitigate the negative impact that this waste has in our country, providing knowledge on when to do with clothes that can no longer be used.
